Castello Banfi Montalcino 2003 Cum Laude
Opulent with a beautiful garnet color, this wine is at its strong core definitely Italian as it is very Chanti-esque. Cum Laude is a real screamer with scents of spice, pink sweet pepper, cinnamon, a light touch of green bell pepper (yes, green bell pepper), lots of tobacco and briar fruit. The rich taste spills flavors of austere oak, tobacco, Bing cherry and dissipates into a smooth and surprisingly clean finish. Cum Laude is a blend of sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah grapes that has been aged for 14 months in French oak barrique.
Risqué grants this little Italian all of his well deserved honors, Cum Laude!
