Red Wine Varietial Grape Poster

Astounding… Over the last ten months Risqué has shared 130 Wine reviews with his LUSHES. If you’ve been a good Wine LUSH and followed Risqué’s recommendations, you would have swilled fifteen different Red Grape Varietal Wines out of the 90 or so Red Varieties… Though we’ve still a ways to go… Risqué thought his precious, precious LUSHES would enjoy knowing just where they’re taste buds had been…

DOG DAYS OF SUMMER

Friday, August 1st, 2008

Tolosa 2007 Rosé Wine, Edna Ranch, Edna Valley, CA

“Caniculares Dies” as the Ancient Romans referred to the “Dog Days of Summer” conjures images of hot breezes inducing long languid afternoons and inexorable sultry evenings just as it commands that the fare and libation follow suit. Risqué desires refreshing offerings of cold fruit and melon, lighter artesian cheeses with lavender honey, nuts, a medley of imported olives and just the lightest smattering of spicy cured meats to juxt the sweet against the savory. Oh… and of course… the most important requirement to alleviate the parch… Wine. Not just any wine… a liquid that satiates and liberates from the heat. Not too cloyingly sweet… not too dryly tannic, deliciously crisp, yet refreshingly quenching… enter a fine Rosé to suit the bill…Tolosa 2007 Rose Wine

The sparkling watermelon color induces your sensory to begin it’s anticipation of a nose filled with refreshing and inviting fruits… tangy pink grapefruit permeated with pints of intense wild strawberries and plump tart raspberries, with an impression of sweet candy. The mouth is amply filed with more wild strawberries and peach nectar all laced and balanced with a fine citrusy acidity and light earthiness which evaporates into a clean and perfectly dry finish.

So now that Risqué is refreshed… I guess there will be no need as the Ancient Romans to sacrifice a (neighbor’s) dog to persuade the GODS to assuage the suffering mortals from the insufferable effects of the Dog Days of Summer. Instead… Risqué will just open another bottle of Tolosa 2007 Rosé and offer the GODS… just a sip!

Alcohol 13.8% ($19)
